Meetings with Harry

Funny meeting Harry at the Starbucks.  What’s so funny about the meeting?  Well, Harry came to the cafe with the intention to talk with someone.  Harry said, “I come to Starbucks to talk with someone and I end up talking with you!”

He is older, 93, and his partner’s health is fading.  As my late friend Tom described about aging, “Correlation is not always related to causation.  As I get older my friends die, are my friends dying because I am getting older?  Maybe I should stop aging.”

My first meeting with Harry was five miles outside of town at the entrance to the state forest.  I was underneath Wilma when an older man on his bicycle asked if I needed any help.  Harry rides his bike early in the morning a few times per week out to the very spot I was working on Wilma.

Being old school, Harry gives me his address and invites me to stop by and say hello sometime.

My second meeting with Harry was Thanksgiving day.  I gave Harry a visit before a swim and the dinner I was invited to attend.  I arrived at Harry’s residence as he was getting ready to depart for the dinner he was invited to attend.  He expressed gratitude for the visit and the timing of my arrival.
